🎃 Welcome to Roloff Farms and Our Halloween Adventure
There’s something about fall in Oregon that just hits different — the crisp air, the smell of leaves, the promise of pumpkin‑spiced everything. So naturally, when the family suggested Roloff Farms in Helvetia, Oregon, I was already halfway in the car with a latte and a hoodie. Figuratively, of course.

And let me tell you… This place is a true family gem, we had such a great time!

Getting There Is Simple, Being On Time, Well That's On You
The actual drive from Portland was only about 30 minutes. The challenge was leaving Portland.
We started the day running roughly five hours behind schedule because I couldn't quite convince myself to get moving. Then the family started talking. One story led to another; Emma had questions, Kendra had opinions, David added commentary, and suddenly half the day had vanished.
One of the funniest parts of a blended family is the age gap. Emma is five. Kendra is fifteen. That's ten years and about seventeen different life stages apart. One is fascinated by every bug, puddle, and snack opportunity. The other is trying very hard to maintain teenage dignity while the five-year-old narrates life like a live sports commentator.
Needless to say, punctuality never stood a chance.
Word to the wise, this is easily a four/ five hour event, and we definitely wished that we had more time there! Important to note that they do close promptly at 5 pm.
Let's Talk Admission
Here's a map of the festival

General Admission combo ticket
$26
/per person
2 Years old & under are Free
Includes: Entrance into the festival and
access to all activities including the Wagon Tour and Train Ride.
Okay, honest review time: We did the $26 combo tickets, and I don't think it was worth the extra $6 per person. The Colorful train is a super short ride, about 5 minutes at most. The wagon train, while longer at about 20 minutes, is themed towards the Roloff's show and the actual ride is only 10 minutes, with a 10 minute break to view the town. Speaking of the town- BEES_ LOTS OF HORNETS! Sure, It was fun to look around, but not really worth $26 for all of us to see it, as this isn't really an interactive exhibit.

$20
/per person
2 Years old & under are Free
Includes: Entrance into the festival and
access to all activities except the Wagon Tour (pictured left) and Train Ride.
This ticket is budget-friendly and lets you do almost everything! It is important to note that the zombie paintball and cannon shot are separate prices. Perfect for the blended family on a budget who also wants to add in the extras for the teens!

Family Shenanigans Right Outta The Gate
Step into a fall wonderland where you'll race rubber duckies.
Dig to China in the sandbox.
Tour a gift shop and just maybe secure your family’s newest magnet, as we did.
Emma rode trikes on the "dirt bike course", attempted mini golf, built a Tetris tower, slid down a watch tower, and flew a plane all within an hour of being there.

Kendra ditched us to try her hand at striking gold — literally — and left with a stash she’s still bragging about. (Ssshhh you, don't break her illusion by telling her it's fools gold.)
Honestly it was the perfect blended‑family adventure.
The Teen Zone
If you’ve got teens, Roloff Farms has you covered. The cannons and zombie paintball are absolutely teen‑bait — loud, chaotic, and charged separately (because of course they are). And who doesn't want to shoot tennis balls at a pirate ship!

But Kendra?
She didn’t need any of that.
She found plenty to do without the extra cost and was living her best life panning for gold like she was about to retire early! Bless her heart!
Emma’s Pumpkin Paradise
Emma fell in love with the pumpkin patch in its entirety. In her words, "It's the best 5th Birthday ever"! I'll take my wins where I can- thank you!

She loved every pumpkin.
Embarked down every row.
Cheesed out at every photo op.
And slid down at every opportunity.
She was basically the unofficial Pumpkin Patch Ambassador by the end of the day.
David’s Lawn Game Olympics
David truly appreciated all the lawn‑style family games scattered around the farm. Cornhole, rubber duck races, trike tracks — if it involved competition, he was in.

If it involved beating me, he was extra in. Nope, not a photo to share of him spanking me at teether ball or lawn axes or mini golf. It's almost like it never happened.
The Roller Tube Incident
Now… let’s talk about the roller tube area.
I laughed so hard I nearly needed medical attention.
Seeing David and me inside one of those tubes?
A sight.
A spectacle.
A moment I’m sure the farm security cameras will treasure forever.
And yes, I have photo evidence!

And the girl sliding around....Comedy gold.

Truly a family gem that encourages teamwork- which for a blended family that's a win!
Foodies Gather Around
Yes!! There are food trucks on-site, and we highly recommend the topped elephant ear — OMG DELISH!

You MUST try the apple cider slushy. The pairing? Chef’s kiss baby!
Everything was shareable — two elephant ears, two sodas, one apple cider slushy fed our whole adventure crew.
As a penny-pincher option, you could always bring in a small cooler with some snacks and sandwiches, as we didn't see anything that said that you couldn't.
Meeting Matt Roloff Himself

One of the highlights was speaking with Matt Roloff himself.
He was kind, interesting, and genuinely present — chatting with guests, checking in with staff, and sharing bits about the farm and his business.
It’s rare to see a business owner, let alone a celebrity, make himself that available.
I was impressed. And honestly, I was honored to be able to engage with him and his property.
A Refreshing Surprise
I also appreciated that the farm wasn’t overly themed or commercialized around the TLC show Little People, Big World. Where of course the Roloff family is center stage.

With the wagon train being the only real nod to the show, but the rest of the farm stands on its own charm. It feels authentic — not like a TV set trying to sell you merch.
However, should you like to check out the show, you can find it here:
The Roloff Legacy
The Roloff Family has owned their Helvetia land for decades, building the farm into a beloved Oregon landmark. Their TLC show, Little People, Big World, has been sharing their lives, challenges, and triumphs with viewers since 2006 — making Roloff Farms one of the most recognizable family farms in the country.
The pumpkin patch has been operating for many years, becoming a fall tradition for families across the PNW. After speaking with staff, a long‑time family friend, and Matt himself, it sounds like the Roloff Family hopes to continue the pumpkin patch for years to come, despite what a popular magazine said. It is confirmed that the family is selling off some of the land and the old main house, which is currently available to rent as a vacation destination.
Mindful Takeaways
• There is plenty of seating options and areas to slow down and take a break.
• Pumpkins were easily accessible near the exit, with wagons ready to help you haul your new orange babies.
• There were vendors selling handmade goods, though three hours wasn’t nearly enough time to explore them all.
• Honestly? For the cost and the amount to do, I’d want half a day there.
• Parking is free, and the lot was well‑maintained and easy to navigate.
